Slovenia first entered the Eurovision Song Contest in 1961, being the ones responsible for the very first entry of Yugoslavia, a country which since they went solo they have tried their best to deny they have ever been part of or have any relation to. Slovenia is not balkan. It is not Ex-Yug. It is not even Mediterranean. It is Central European. Or Western European. Or North American. Or an island somewhere between Greenland and Hawaii. But it is NOT under any circumstances Balkan. Several suggestions for a change of name of the country have been suggested, such as Lesser Austria, Polkaholienburg and Wewillneverletsasalendersingforusia.
