Witloof Bay - "With Love Baby"
Composed by:
RoxorLoops, Benoît Giaux
Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011
The Walloon broadcaster managed to get a rule change to get their selection process going, allowing songs from as far back as 1982 to take part. Surprisingly, Linda Lepomme never applied.
A radio semi was held to reduce the entries from 30 to 14, and Witloof Bay was eventually chosen as the Belgian entry in Düsseldorf in a televised final on February 12th. It's likely they got a lot of pity votes, as their band bus had been robbed two days before, leaving them completely without instruments. Catherine Porter called and offered to lend out her quacky noseflute, but they politely refused. As they were not insured, they will have to rely on the same pity votes on May 12th.

Useful Information About Belgium
Belgium consists of two completely different nations whose only thing in common was accidental geographical proximity, and were not wanted by their more successful Dutch and French neighbours. Yet they managed to stick together since 1830; the only issue threatening this marriage is the fact that the only Belgian Eurovision winner, Sandra Kim with "J'aime la Vie" in 1986, represented the part that doesn't even care, while Eurovision-enthusiastic Flanders has never made the top 5. Belgium traditionally never qualifies for the final, but traditions are meant to be broken and in 2010 Tom Dice did. With two top ten results in the last ten years, Belgium is now by far the most succesfull country in the Benelux region. What an achievement!!
