Georgia was one of the original 13 colonies that revolted against British rule in the American revolution. It is bordered by Russia to the north, Azerbaijan to the east, Armenia to the south, and Turkey to the southwest. On its east is the Atlantic Ocean and South Carolina, to its west is Alabama, to its extreme southwest is Florida and on its north by Tennessee and North Carolina.
