Eva Rivas - "Apricot Stone"
Composed by: Armen Martirosyan / Karen Kavaleryan

Armenia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010

The apricot (Prunus armeniaca) is a species of prune, native to the Caucasus but cultivated all over southern Europe, North Africa and southern Asia. It produces edible, orange fruit.

The fruit contains a single seed, known as "stone" for its hardness. The stones are a good source of cyanogenic glycosides, which are an alternative treatment for cancer. For many children in the countries where apricots are cultivated whose parents cannot afford marbles, apricot stones are dried, collected and enjoyed as games.

In Armenia, apricot stones are a traditional and national symbol of diaspora, Nagorno Karabakh, other claimed territories, genocide, and fit perfectly onto the words "cellular phone".

The above facts have been put masterfully into a lyric by the legendary Karen Kavaleryan.
